Mississauga father plans to use some of $239K lottery win to help homeless

Paul Piwek of Mississauga is celebrating after he won $239,071.50 in the Sept. 29 Lotto Max draw.

The father of three says, while he wants to save some of his winnings and put some toward web design projects, he also wants to use it to help the homeless.

“I am very happy to win. It provides a sense of security,” he said.

Piwek matched six numbers plus the bonus number to win the prize. He also won $2 on another selection, bringing his total winnings to $239,073.50.

He said he’s an occasional lottery player who normally plays Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49.

“I always choose Quick Pick — I find it easier,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach.
